Who We Are

The Jackson State University AI & Robotics Club (JSUAIRC) is the premier robotics club on campus. We seek to provide Jackson State students undergraduates with not only the opportunity to participate in exciting and educational robotics projects but also to build a warm and accomplished community of engineers together. Though founded only several years ago, HURC has rapidly expanded to a group of over 50 active members, each tackling one of our independent robotics projects. At the end of each school year, we compete at university robotics competitions across the country. In just seven months, we will build – from scratch – robots that walk, roll, swim, fly, play soccer, and even navigate Mars!

How We Do It

JSUAIRC is first and foremost a project-based club. Every year, we split up into different teams that each build a robot in order to compete at the end of the school year at official competitions across the country. At the beginning of the Fall Semester, HURC members are divided up into these separate project teams, under a project manager, and are placed in a sub-group of either Mechanical, Electrical, or Code (though roles are often interdisciplinary). Each HURC team is designed to have a healthy mix of experienced upperclassmen and inexperienced newcomers, enabling us to enter advanced competitions and at the same time provide valuable engineering training! Additionally, we run engineering workshops at the beginning of the year for all prospective new members.
